Connection Troubleshooting

Solutions for common treadmill connection issues.

Treadmill Not Found in Scan

Problem

Your treadmill doesn't appear when scanning for devices.

Solutions

1. Check Treadmill Power - Ensure treadmill is plugged in and powered ON - Some treadmills don't advertise Bluetooth when off

2. Enable Treadmill Bluetooth - Check treadmill manual for Bluetooth enable procedure - Some treadmills have Bluetooth toggle in their settings - May require button combination on panel

3. Check phone Bluetooth - Open your device's Settings > Bluetooth - Toggle Bluetooth OFF then ON - Verify Bluetooth is enabled

4. Grant App Permissions - your device's Settings > Treadmill Assistant > Bluetooth - Toggle ON - App cannot scan without permission

5. Move Closer - Stand within 10 feet of treadmill - Remove obstacles between phone and treadmill - Metal and walls reduce Bluetooth range

6. Restart Treadmill - Power off treadmill completely - Wait 30 seconds - Power back on - Try scanning again

7. Restart App - Close Treadmill Assistant completely (swipe up in app switcher) - Reopen app - Attempt scan again

8. Restart phone - Hold power button → slide to power off - Wait 30 seconds - Power back on - May resolve Bluetooth stack issues

Connection Fails or Times Out

Problem

Treadmill appears in scan but connection fails.

Solutions

1. Ensure Treadmill is Idle - Treadmill should be powered on but not running - Stop any active workout - Let treadmill return to idle state

2. Forget and Reconnect - Don't use iOS Bluetooth settings to "forget" device - Instead: Close app completely - Reopen app and scan again - Select treadmill from fresh scan results

3. One Connection at a Time - Disconnect other Bluetooth devices temporarily - Some phones struggle with many Bluetooth connections - Try connecting with fewer active devices

4. Check for Interference - Move away from microwaves, Wi-Fi routers - Turn off other Bluetooth devices temporarily - Reduce electronic interference

5. Try Different Times - Bluetooth can be congested (e.g., busy gym) - Try early morning or late evening - May have better success with less interference

Connection Drops During Workout

Problem

Connected successfully but connection drops mid-workout.

Solutions

1. Stay Within Range - Keep phone within 10-15 feet of treadmill - Don't walk away during workout - Avoid placing phone on floor (further from treadmill BLE antenna)

2. Remove Obstacles - Don't place phone behind metal objects - Keep line of sight to treadmill when possible - Avoid burying phone under towels/clothes

3. Charge phone - Low battery affects Bluetooth performance - Keep phone charged above 20% - Consider plugging in during long workouts

4. Disable Battery Saver - Low Power Mode can affect Bluetooth - your device's Settings > Battery > Low Power Mode OFF - Try workout without power saving

5. Close Other Bluetooth Apps - Too many Bluetooth connections can cause drops - Close fitness trackers, audio apps - Reduce Bluetooth load

6. Treadmill Antenna Issues - Some treadmills have weak Bluetooth antennas - Try different phone placement - May need to keep phone very close

Auto-Connect Not Working

Problem

Auto-connect enabled but doesn't connect automatically.

Solutions

1. Verify Setting - Settings > BLE Connection - Ensure Auto-Connect to Last Device is ON

2. Treadmill Must Be On First - Power on treadmill BEFORE opening app - App searches for ~15 seconds then times out - If treadmill off, auto-connect fails

3. Wait for Timeout - Give auto-connect 10-15 seconds - Don't tap "Connect" immediately - Let it attempt connection first

4. Check Range - Auto-connect has shorter range than manual scan - Be closer to treadmill when opening app

5. Reconnect Manually Once - Disable auto-connect - Manually connect to treadmill - Re-enable auto-connect - Try again next time

Wrong Treadmill Connects

Problem

App connects to neighbor's or gym's treadmill instead of yours.

Solutions

1. Disable Auto-Connect - Settings > BLE Connection > Auto-Connect OFF - Manually select your treadmill each time

2. Power Off Other Treadmills - If at home, power off other treadmills - If at gym, select correct one from list

3. Use "Last Used" Sorting - Settings > BLE Connection > Sort Order > Last Used - Your treadmill appears first after initial connection

4. Remember Device Name - Note your treadmill's Bluetooth name (e.g., "FS-7B4AC5") - Always select same name from list

"Device Not Supported"

Problem

App says treadmill is not supported or incompatible.

Solutions

1. Check Compatibility - Treadmill Assistant requires FitShow or FTMS-compatible treadmills - Must support FTMS Bluetooth protocol - Check treadmill manual for FTMS or FitShow support

2. Update Treadmill Firmware - Some treadmills need firmware updates for Bluetooth - Check manufacturer's website - May add/fix Bluetooth support

3. Try FitShow App - Download official FitShow app - If FitShow app works, Treadmill Assistant should too - If FitShow doesn't work, treadmill may not be compatible

Multiple Devices in List

Problem

Many devices appear, hard to find treadmill.

Solutions

1. Look for "FS-" Prefix - Most FitShow treadmills start with "FS-" - Look for names like "FS-7B4AC5"

2. Use Signal Strength - With "Last Used" sorting, closer devices appear higher - Stand next to your treadmill - It should appear near top

3. Process of Elimination - Try connecting to likely candidates - Remember correct device name for next time

4. Power Off Other Treadmills - If multiple treadmills nearby, power off others temporarily - Scan with only your treadmill on - Note its name for future

Bluetooth Keeps Disconnecting

Problem

Connection unstable, disconnects every few minutes.

Solutions

1. phone Bluetooth Reset - your device's Settings > Bluetooth OFF - Wait 10 seconds - Bluetooth ON - Reconnect to treadmill

2. Network Settings Reset - Reset network settings on your device (clears Wi-Fi passwords and Bluetooth pairings) - On iOS: Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings - On Android: Settings > System > Reset > Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth - May resolve persistent Bluetooth issues

3. Treadmill Bluetooth Reset - Consult treadmill manual - May have Bluetooth reset procedure - Often involves power cycle

4. Contact Support - If nothing works, may be hardware issue - Contact treadmill manufacturer - May need service/repair
