Match the Treadmill's Clock
Choose whether your workout timer and saved duration follow the app's own clock or the treadmill console's clock — so the saved time can match what the console displayed.
Experimental / in testing
This is a newer option that's still being refined. It lives in the experimental section of Settings, and its behavior may change between updates.
All platforms · Depends on your treadmill
Works on both iPhone and Android, but only takes effect if your treadmill broadcasts its own elapsed time over Bluetooth. Otherwise the app's clock is always used.
What it does
By default, Treadmill Assistant times your workout with its own clock. When you turn this on, the workout timer, segment changes, and the saved duration follow the treadmill's reported elapsed time instead — so the recorded workout lines up with the number on the console.
Caveats — please read first
- Default is the app's clock. Leaving this off is the right choice for most people; the app's timing is reliable and independent of the equipment.
- Requires Bluetooth elapsed-time support. Many treadmills don't broadcast their own clock. If yours doesn't, this setting has no effect and the app's clock is used regardless.
- Small differences are normal when it's off. When using the app's clock, the saved duration can differ from the console by a few seconds — this is expected (consoles and the app start/stop timing at slightly different moments, and some firmware clocks drift).
- Console clocks can drift too. Following the treadmill's clock matches the console exactly, including any minor inaccuracy in the equipment's own timekeeping.
Enabling it
- Open the Settings tab (gear icon).
- Find the Experimental Features section and expand it.
- Under Workout timing, turn on Match the treadmill's clock.
Troubleshooting
Turning it on made no difference
Problem: The saved duration is the same as before.
Solution: Your treadmill probably doesn't broadcast its elapsed time over Bluetooth, so the app falls back to its own clock. This is expected — not every treadmill reports a clock.
My duration is a few seconds off the console
Problem: With the setting off, the saved time doesn't exactly match the console.
Solution: That's normal app-clock behavior. Turn Match the treadmill's clock on if your treadmill supports it and you want the times to line up.
